“this nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.” ~Elmer Davis

uncle rick (really my brother in law) returned from afghanistan today after over a year of deployment. i was excited, thought i would be fine. i was more nervous/excited for chris and the kids. then i saw the flags, all the military men and women, all the hand made signs, the little boys wearing army outfits like daddy’s, and the plane descending in the sky…and lost it. the veterans revved up their harleys and the families waiting started screaming and cheering when they saw the plane. such an emotional day. so glad he is home safe. so grateful for what rick did over there. happy his family doesn’t have to miss him anymore…

miss lilly anxiously watching for her dad to walk off the plane

ricks sister lori (& son jack), trying to hold back tears

right as i took this i saw rick reach for garrett and his hand just squeezed him hard

{happy girl}!!

we love you uncle rick!!
