It’s teacher appreciation week!

I CANNOT even FATHOM being a teacher. That many kids would put me over the edge for sure! It takes a special person to want to inspire children, especially when they may never see or know that they have inspired, it may not be realized for years and years. As Cam goes off to middle school next year, I hope he gets good teachers. Mostly ones that nurture his spirit, get to know HIM, know his feelings, I think then do they connect, he gets it, he wants to do well for them, for me, not just get a good grade. Kids want to feel appreciated too. Growing up, learning algebra, and science, and girls, and deodorant…it’s a lot for their little minds!

i attended an amazing workshop with shannon sewell last friday. she’s plain awesome. i mentored with her about 3 years ago and was thrilled she decided to do a last minute workshop in portland! i feel so inspired and it’s just what i was needing. i got to meet some other super talented women as well, also what i needed!! julie with zozobugbaby made these adorable dresses!! what a great start to 2012…here we go!

uncle rick (really my brother in law) returned from afghanistan today after over a year of deployment. i was excited, thought i would be fine. i was more nervous/excited for chris and the kids. then i saw the flags, all the military men and women, all the hand made signs, the little boys wearing army outfits like daddy’s, and the plane descending in the sky…and lost it. the veterans revved up their harleys and the families waiting started screaming and cheering when they saw the plane. such an emotional day. so glad he is home safe. so grateful for what rick did over there. happy his family doesn’t have to miss him anymore…

i’ve used this quote before, i love it and think its perfect for bigger families. i photographed the super cute davidson family out at vitae springs vineyard, and yes, we had a little wine while shooting! and an even better time sitting out at the vineyard when we were done! thank you as always to michelle for the great wine, cheese, cobbler, laughs, sweatshirts, etc. and thank you to faith for taking care of that little dead birdy .
