JUST KIDDING!
i have so many photos that i can’t keep track of where they are all at but i wanted to give you a TINY glimpse into this flooring project that SNOWBALLED into a full on kitchen remodel. (i started writing the entire story and just deleted it because it’s SO LONG, it would take me forever) so here are the PHOTOS! we tried to do everything we could do on our own and the things we couldn’t i really tried to find the best, most affordable person. still lots of little things here and there, we still don’t have base moulding, some switch plates need to be redone because of the tile, fireplace will be redone, etc. but for now its useable, fabulous and I love it! from a sea of BROWN to my light, bright WHITE loveliness!
~ THE BEFORE ~ mid October
(sorry poor iphone pics)
the carpet and weird shaped island really divided the room and it was so hard to place furniture. really wanted it to feel like one open space.

A LITTLE BIT OF THE PROCESS…
the demo was insane. taking out tile, hardwood, carpet – everything! we had lots of help from friends and my dad and sherry with this – THANK YOU!!
i sold almost everything on craigslist to help pay for the new stuff. every little bit helps!!

~ THE AFTER!! ~ December

i really wanted open shelving. so many people were like “huh? that’s weird.” i had so many inspiration photos that i knew i would love it. my vision was definitely light and bright (no more dark rooms) and kind of a modern/farmhouse/cottage-y space. i still need bar stools. the ones i want are here. but might have to go with something cheaper from ikea like this. we got all our appliances on sale at sears, the double ovens we bought for 50% off! more THANK YOU’S to my mom and bob for their help and my friends that are builders {Shannon & Chris} and whose husbands are builders {Sarah} that helped me with so many questions and let me use their discounts
Also to Tracy Chumbley who got me started and helped me put my plan to action!

this area used to be carpet and the family room. we mounted a TV on the far left wall and i got the farmhouse-y table from cost plus on sale. i had all the chairs so just added a bench. i hung the lights around the windows at Christmas for some mood lighting and might just leave them up. i had that piece driftwood in the garage that the boys pulled out of detroit lake this summer, so i hung it from the ceiling with the vision of hanging some candles from it. i also want to have a little sitting area in front of the fireplace (that we can’t get to work yet) – with 2 comfy chairs and a funky love seat with a little round table in the middle, so when my girlfriends come over we can go sit there with our glass of wine and chat.![]()
that’s all for now, i hope you like it! off to make dinner! xoxo
